Holiday-Ready Hosting Spaces

Thanksgiving is only a week away, which means the holiday season has officially arrived. Each family has their own unique holiday traditions, from decorations to gifts to favorite recipes. However, what remains universal is the desire to gather with the people we love.

Hosting friends and family with class and care is an art. Making someone feel welcome in your home means providing an atmosphere of easy warmth and sincere consideration. Hospitality is the result of countless small choices that add up to a rich experience.

You could say the same of the home design process. Creating spaces that suit everything from daily life to cocktail hour to Christmas dinner takes a lot of careful planning. Our client's homes reflect their family's distinct lifestyle, taste, and entertaining approach.

For some that may be a formal dining room made for traditional meals with all the trimmings! Others prefer open main floors with the casual flow that's perfect for cookie baking marathons. Another minority is all about designing a party-ready lower level that's perfect for greeting the new year!

Whatever their taste may be, it's our job to translate our client's vision and hosting style into a beautifully built home. Want to explore more of these holiday-ready spaces? Browse a few of our favorites below!

Real Home Feature: Sunny Traditional

We'll never get tired of saying it; our clients' have impeccable taste! From modern farmhouses to timeless traditionals, we've created homes in countless styles. Today, we only have eyes for this sunny and playful traditional home, completed in partnership with the talented interior designer, Brooke Voss.

From the entryway punctuated by unique furnishings to the bold use of paint, textiles, color, and wallpaper throughout, these homeowners were always game for taking big design swings. (Our favorite kind of people!)

A few of our other favorite features include the ample and stylish storage, such as the home office, butler's pantry, laundry room, and hidden kitchen pantry. We also can't get enough of all that glowing natural light - every space feels so warm and welcoming.

For all of this home's interior charm, the showstoppers are the beautiful backyard porch and patio. Does it get any better than an indoor/outdoor porch, sprawling patio seating, and a built-in bonfire pit? It's a host's dream come true.

Elegant Traditional: A Fresh Take on Sophistication

Sometimes a home is so distinct and the design comes together so beautifully, that we're bursting at the seams to share it with the world. This fresh take on sophisticated style is one such project. Equal parts elegant, traditional, and trendy, this gorgeous Edina home makes a memorable impression.

From the timeless exterior to the effortless interior, this home is all about balance. The layout flows with ease from one room to the next, each connected through their use of clean black lines, bright natural light, neutral color palettes, warm wooden furnishings, and statement light fixtures.

We worked with our friends at Peterssen Keller Architecture to create this stunning home, and we cannot praise them enough! The framework they designed looks deceptively simple but is made up of countless carefully refined details. From the copper gutters to the hidden foyer coat closet to the polished concrete basement floor - surprises can be found in every room. The materials used throughout this home were also sourced from all over the world, from Greece to Italy to Texas!

Two of our favorite spaces in this home would have to be the kitchen and porch. The stunning kitchen is airy but anchored by the spacious center island and French imported black and gold range. Moving out to the porch, the unique three-panel door gives the room an indoor/outdoor feeling. A custom grilling area, cozy fireplace, and ceiling heater all make the space the perfect year-round refuge.

Design Trends: Elevated Light Fixtures

When it comes to foundational design elements, it doesn't get more essential than light fixtures. Unless you plan on exclusively keeping daylight hours, you need good lighting throughout your space.

However, recent light fixture trends revolve around much more than pure function. Lighting has become everything from a focal point to a playful accent to bold design statement in modern homes.

Like icing on a cake, light fixtures can be the jewelry of a home. They elevate and finish spaces and can add a flash of color, glitz, texture, pattern, repetition, or style to any room. In the hands of a talented designer, light fixtures are another valuable tool for creating memorable spaces.
