Home Design: Lighting that Makes an Impact

It doesn't get more essential than light fixtures when it comes to foundational design. However, current lighting trends revolve around more than pure function. Light fixtures have become everything from a focal point to a playful accent to a bold statement in modern homes.

Light fixtures are the jewelry of a home. They elevate and finish spaces and can add a flash of color, glitz, texture, pattern, repetition, or style to any room. In the hands of a talented designer, lighting is a valuable tool for creating memorable spaces!

One major upside of collaborating with our team? You’re not limited to buying lighting from a specific local showroom. Whether you’re a world-traveler collecting home finishes along the way or find something incredible online, we want you to choose selections you love!

Trend Forecasting for 2022: What We're Seeing

As home builders and remodelers, staying informed about technology and trends in our industry is vital to what we do. Our expertise and guidance are part of what we provide for our clients. When they have questions, it’s our job to answer with as much helpful context and information as possible.

While we move further into 2022, our team has started to see a few styles emerge. Scroll below for the list of what trends we’re forecasting for the coming year.

Modern Farmhouse Style is Declining
Our clients are moving strongly toward modern, cape/coastal, or traditional styles in their homes. Once everywhere, modern farmhouse style is now on the decline.

Mixed Metallics Remain Popular
Mixed metals, such as brass lighting with black door hardware and satin nickel faucets, remain on this rise. We are also seeing people gravitate away from stainless steel in their homes.

French Appliances are Replacing Stainless Steel
More and more of our clients are drifting away from Wolf or Thermador ranges and gravitating toward the French-styled Lacanche or La Cornue (again, in any color but stainless steel).

Customized Leisure Spaces are Growing
Sport courts have gone from optional to nearly required for many of our clients. In-home saunas are also gaining popularity along with golf simulators.

Home Offices and Study Spaces are Here to Stay
Home offices, study spaces, and chill areas are common additions to many new homes we build these days. We’re seeing these areas become even more individual and dedicated to their specific purposes.

The Pandemic is Still Shaping Homeownership
Needless to say, most trends still reflect homeowners’ adapting to the ongoing pandemic. People are trying to maximize their time in the place where they’re spending the bulk of their lives.

What's Your Bathroom Style?

How would you describe your style? If you've ever designed a home, then you know this question is essential. Everyone from your project manager to interior designer will probably pose some version of, "what's your style?" throughout the design process.

Whether you research on your own or discover your style with expert guidance, we recommend doing a little soul-searching. One common room that can be overlooked? Your bathroom.

It may not be a communal space, but your owner’s suite sees a lot of action! We think the room where you begin and end each day should make you feel good.

From minimal to playful to spa-like, we've designed every kind of bathroom all over the years. Scroll below for our favorite style inspiration!
